|Trial by Fire|
|Air date||August 10, 2018|
Sanda's revelation shakes the Paladins, who are separated from the Lions. On Earth, Shiro, Sam and Coran attempt to get the Atlas powered up.
The Paladins are captured and incarcerated aboard Sendak's ship, with the Lions held in a docking bay. Sendak continues his assault on Earth, despite Admiral Sanda's pleas – they had a deal to leave the Earth alone once Voltron was in his possession. Sanda is sent to the cells with the Paladins.
At the Galaxy Garrison, Shiro suggests taking the offensive. If they transfer all power, including that powering the particle shield, to the IGF-Atlas, they might be able to get it powered and flying. As it becomes clear that the Garrison are planning something, Sendak sends his cruisers in. The MFE fighters provide cover while Shiro, Coran and Samuel Holt try to get the Atlas airborne. After a failed attempt, Coran realizes the crystal formed from the destruction of the Castle of Lions could be the key and inserts it in the ship. The Atlas launches and joins the fight.
Aboard Sendak's ship, the Paladins use their control with the Lions to telepathically control them. When Sendak realizes what they are doing, he sends Hepta to kill the Paladins. Admiral Sanda manages to get free and almost stops Hepta, but is mortally wounded in the process. The Paladins use the Lions to free themselves and join the battle.
"We had a deal!"
— Sanda is genuinely surprised that someone like Sendak turns out to be a liar
"I'm not saying it'll be easy. I'm not even saying that it's possible, but we have to at least be willing to try. Think of our families. Think of Earth!"
