The Depths is the second episode of the second season of Voltron: Legendary Defender. It was released on Netflix along with the rest of the season on January 20, 2017.

Synopsis[]

Hunk and Lance crash-land underwater and follow a mermaid to a civilization whose queen promises to keep them safe and help find the others.

Plot Summary[]

Hunk and Lance[]

Hunk and Lance find themselves at the bottom of an ocean after having crash-landed on an alien planet. They encounter mermaids and are led to their village to meet Queen Luxia. A feat is thrown in their honor and they are served food straight from the Bakku gardens. While they eat, Hunk is hypnotized by a performing octopus and the two paladins decide to stay in the village forever.

After the party has ended, Lance is rescued by mer-people. Hunk is left behind because he can't fit through the hole in the wall. The kidnappers free Lance from his trance and beg him to help them overthrow the Queen. Lance agrees and is forced to wear a jellyfish on his head to prevent him from being hypnotized again. On his way to retrieve the Blue lion, Lance is attacked by a mind-controlled Hunk. Lance manages to save Hunk by throwing an antidote fish at his face. Together they take the Queen hostage and bring her back to the mer-people resistance.

Queen Lexia reveals that it's actually the Bakku Gardens that have hypnotized the village, not her. The Garden has been using the mermaids as a food source. Lance and Hunk use their Lions to fight the sea serpent. The Blue Lion manages to defeat it by creating a blue, ice beam. After saving the village, the Queen helps the paladins find their friends by sending a beacon up into space.

Pidge sees the beacon and goes down to rescue them.
