Studio Mir (스튜디오 미르) is a Korean animation studio based in Seoul, South Korea. In collaboration with DreamWorks, it would provide the finalized animation for Voltron: Legendary Defender.
History[]
Studio Mir was founded in 2010 Jae-Myung Yu, Kwang-Il Han, and Seung-Wook Lee. Yu has worked as an animation director in Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender and named the studio after the Soviet space station, Mir.
Due to Yu's work on The Last Airbender, the studio's first major production was The Legend of Korra. This series would also share the majority of its staff members with Voltron: Legendary Defender.
2016 Voltron: Legendary Defender series[]
After the conclusion of Legend of Korra, former Nickelodeon president Mark Taylor brought Studio Mir, along with other staff members outside of the studio that worked on the same show, to create Voltron: Legendary Defender.
Much like the production of Legend of Korra, the design work and story boarding would be provided by DreamWorks Animation based in California. Studio Mir would work on the finalized animation along with fighting choreography.
