Lubos is the former leader of the Olkari people. When the Galra took over the planet Olkarion, he was imprisoned and used as a hostage to ensure the cooperation of his people in building a giant cube-shaped superweapon.
When Team Voltron arrived in response to a distress signal decoded from space spores, they assised Ryner and the other free Olkari in liberating their world, uncovering in the process that Lubos had actually betrayed his people by providing weapon design to Branko.
