Humans are the sole sentient species inhabiting planet Earth. They tend to have two arms, two legs, two eyes, a nose, and come with a variety of skin, hair, and eye colours. Humans mainly speak English. They have not yet mastered space travel, but with the help of Altean technology they are capable of creating a massive mech named the IGF-ATLAS. All the current Paladins of Voltron (save Princess Allura) are humans.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe Continuity

When peace settled across the galaxy, the humans of planet Earth formed the Galaxy Alliance. Together with the other good planets of the solar system, they maintained peace throughout the universe. Until the menace of Zarkon threatened the galaxy. A force of five young humans from Earth, specially trained were sent by the Alliance to bring back Voltron. Indeed the space explorers came along and discovered the five sleeping lions. Each space explorer piloted one of the lion pieces. The leader of the group was Keith, who helmed the Black Lion and directed the formation of Voltron. Lance, the pilot of the Red Lion. The Blue Lion pilot was the Sven, although he was eventually replaced by Princess Allura from the planet Arus. Hunk, piloted the Yellow Lion, while the Green Lion pilot, Pidge, was a human from the planet Balto.

Voltron: Legendary Defender Continuity

Human beings are native to planet Earth, a small blue planet in the Milky Way Galaxy.

Human beings have in recent times made great strides in space exploration, though with the exceptions of a handful, have had no contact with extraterrestrial lifeforms. What contact has occurred has been entirely due to events caused by the Galra Empire, Voltron, and the Altean Royal family.

Humans have been known to had contact with extraterrestrial life prior to the awakening of the Blue Lion in the desert by the soon-to-be Paladins. This is because Keith, the current Red Paladin and Second-In-Command of Team Voltron, is known to possess both human and Galran heritage, having been descended from a member of the Galra-centered resistance organization known as The Blade of Marmora. And Shiro, the current Black Paladin and Leader of the Defenders of the Universe, Matt and Samuel Holt were captured by the Galra Empire when they study of ice samples for signs of extraterrestrial life on Kerberos.

Trivia

Humans have appeared in every iteration of the Voltron franchise, even appearing in the original GoLion series.
