Faced with a painful decision, the Paladins reluctantly come to an agreement with Zarkon. Haggar comes to grips with memories from the past.
Pidge immediately agrees to Zarkon's offer to trade Commander Samuel Holt for Lotor. However, the rest of the team are more reluctant to accept the offer and it angers her. Lotor warns them that Zarkon is more likely to double-cross them. In the end, the Paladins agree to the terms. Pidge, Matt and Shiro head to the rendezvous in a shuttle while the rest remain at the Castle of Lions.
Haggar begins to retrieve pieces of her lost memories and realizes that Lotor is in fact her son.
During the prisoner exchange, Pidge finds out her father is actually a hologram. Zarkon indeed double-crosses them, demanding Voltron in exchange for Commander Holt. Lotor attacks Zarkon while Pidge, Matt, and Shiro chase Lotor's former generals as they escape with Commander Holt. Reinforced by the other Paladins and Coran, Commander Holt is finally rescued.
Lotor and Zarkon duel. At first, Lotor struggles but soon gains the upper hand and kills Zarkon.
"No! We had a deal! We had a deal! Give me back my father!!"
— Pidge screams in despair when her father turns out to be only a hologram
- Zarkon's death is different from his Golion and Defender of the Universe counterparts. Instead of being killed by Voltron, he is killed by Lotor in this version.
