Romelle?

Okay, so I don't know if anyone's discussed this yet, but...

Remember Princess Romelle from the 80's? Allura's doppelganger from their sister planet Pollux? Who else hopes she makes some kind of return in Legendary Defender?

Here's how I think it would go... Soooo maybe, before the destruction of Altea, there were some space exploration teams sent to uncover the far reaches of the universe. The discovered a planet capable of sustaining life, but without any sentient beings currently abiding there due to insufficient evolution. They decided to report back to their superiors... Only to learn (somehow) that Altea was destroyed and they no longer had a world to return to. The Altean crew decides to start their lives anew on the strange new planet they eventually name "Pollux*.
Ten thousand years later, the Polluxians have only recently been noticed by the Galra due to the fact that they had to reestablish their entire civilization, and did not have any noteworthy resources until now. The battle for the planet is ongoing, with the Polluxians slowly losing. Until Voltron shows up! An alliance is formed, we get some character development for Allura (" more...Alteans?") and for... Well, if you've seen the 80's version, you'll know what I'm talking about😉

Anne McCaffrey's PERN books. Fantasy series which started with three books in 1967 and now is about 30 titles. Anyway, her characters are actually not native to the planet they live on, but have been there for at least 2500 years. They've totally lost the technology that brought them to Pern, and are literally hidebound. They're just starting to 'reinvent' some of the things that were lost - like paper! - in the first three books.

If you have NOT read the Dragonriders of Pern series, I highly highly highly recommend it. It was one of my first fantasy series, and I go back and re-read it every few years.

As far as Shiro - you gonna pair him up with their version of Romelle? Can we PLEASE not have a Bandor? I always wanted to duct-tape his mouth shut. ;)

I'll definetely check it out! I've been needing a new series to dive into!

Of COURSE no Bandor! He sounded like quiznaking Mickey Mouse! And not even the good ones!

But his Robeast brother would be a great plot device. Imagine: Romelle being forced to send Voltron to destroy her brother...who has gone insane and allied himself with the Galra out of cowardice, and become the first Robeast after a couple seasons of Nobeast...and all the development to result from that!

Shiro and Romelle would, like anything else, have to be properly developed. Not the 80's "hey look, romantic subplot!" Romelle herself requires proper development, not becoming just another strong female character for the list. Pidge, Allura, the Generals, now Olia? So many characters, development spreading thinner with each one (tho Allura and Pidge are equally awesome, I just like Pidge more because I prefer brain over brawn.)
Romelle must be executed properly. Otherwise we just get another reference and another character cluttering up the cast list.
